There can be no substitute for prevention but accidents and emergencies may happen anytime. An emergency dental kit may be helpful if you have it handy at home. A simple kit would include a small container with a lid, small towel or handkerchief, pain meds (do not use aspirin or ibuprofen – this may cause excessive bleeding during treatment), Betadine gargle, sterile gauze, mouth mirror, cotton plier and rubbing alcohol, dental adhesives, and Vaseline. Most of these are available in the pharmacy. Never forget to include the name and contact details of your dentists/physician and nearest hospital.
