Most dental emergencies can really be avoided.  Always keep teeth and gums healthy and strong. You need to have regular dental check-ups and oral prophylaxis (teeth cleaning) every 4-6 months.  If you feel some sensitivity or feeling of roughness on some tooth surfaces, do not hesitate to see your dentist.

If you are using removable dentures, always make sure that they fit comfortably, otherwise you need to check with your dentists if there is a need to have it adjusted or changed. I’ll fitted dentures is prone to fracture and may cause soreness.

If you have crowns or veneers, make sure that they are regularly checked by dentists for leakage to avoid sensitivity to either hot or cold or formation of abscess.

If you are into sports, try using mouth guards to minimize or prevent dental accidents.

Avoid eating hard food too. Opening bottle drinks with your teeth and cracking ice are also not good habits as it may cause teeth to fracture.
